The path a hand takes, for a robot to follow.

trace collects short, guided recordings of everyday hand tasks, reviews each one against a brief and turns what passes into segmented data robots can learn from.

01 Contents

From a brief to a dataset.

Four steps. Each one adds something a robotics team can check later.

01

The brief

Every mission names the objects, the action from first touch to last and how the camera should be set up.

02

The review

Each clip is checked against its brief. Clips that miss the action or show a face or a document are rejected.

03

The structure

Accepted clips are split into steps and tagged with objects, outcome and the terms they can be used under.

04

The dataset

Reviewed clips are bundled into versioned datasets that teams license under each mission's terms.

ii.
02 Catalogue

Sample missions, one action each.

Retries stay in. A slip and a recovery teach a robot more than a perfect take.

Hands and objects only. Faces and documents mean the clip is rejected.

The license travels with the clip, so a team always knows what it can do with it.

04 The plotter

Draw a line. A machine copies it.

Sketch anything on the sheet. A two-joint plotter arm redraws your stroke point by point, and the record on the right is built from your line. Runs in your browser; nothing is sent.

Rewards are planned as stock tokens for accepted contributions, settled on Robinhood Chain. How rewards will work

06 Token

$TRACE

The token of the trace network on Robinhood Chain. A share of its trading fees is meant to help fund contributor rewards, alongside dataset licensing.

Not needed to apply or record. Fee funding is an intention, not a guarantee. If an address isn't on this site, it isn't ours.

07 Questions

Short answers.

What is a mission?

A short brief for one everyday action, like fastening a strap or opening a drawer. It lists the objects, the steps, how to frame the camera and what review will accept.

Can I record for trace today?

Contributor applications are open. Apply, complete onboarding and have your camera setup checked. Each paid mission states its brief, usage terms and reward terms before you record.

Who uses the data?

The plan is to license reviewed datasets to robotics teams that need examples of specific tasks, objects and settings.

How would contributors be rewarded?

Each mission publishes its reward terms up front. Accepted contributions are planned to be paid in stock tokens on Robinhood Chain. Applying needs no purchase.

Will my face or my home be in the data?

Missions frame hands and objects only. Clips that show faces, documents or other private details are rejected in review and never used.

Where is the contract address?

On this site, first. If an address isn't shown here, it isn't ours.

Demonstrations made for robots.

trace writes a brief for each task, collects short recordings from people, reviews them against the brief and structures what passes into datasets a robotics team can license.

i.

Capture

The contributor follows one mission. The brief defines a usable clip before anyone presses record.

  • hands and objects in frame
  • rest to rest, no cut-ins
  • retries kept, not hidden
ii.

Review

Every clip is checked against the mission's accept and reject rules.

  • action complete
  • outcome matches the brief
  • no faces or documents
iii.

Structure

Accepted clips are split into steps and tagged.

  • segments with timings
  • objects and setting
  • success, retry or fail
iv.

Deliver

Reviewed clips are bundled into versioned datasets.

  • provenance per clip
  • usage permission
  • per-mission license

Before you ask.

Why human data, if labs collect their own?

Robot data is expensive to gather across many homes, objects and small variations. Human demonstrations cover that variety at lower cost. They add to robot data rather than replace it.

What do contributors grant?

Each mission has its own usage terms, shown before you record. Rights are granted per recording under those terms. Applying grants nothing.

What stage is trace at?

Contributor applications are open and sample missions are published. Paid missions and dataset delivery are not live yet.

One brief, one action.

Each mission is a short brief: what to do, how to frame it and what review will check. Registered contributors record them after onboarding and a camera check.

Want to record real missions?

When paid missions open, each will publish its brief, usage terms and reward terms before you record.

        — Rewards

        Paid for accepted work.

trace plans to reward accepted mission contributions with stock tokens on Robinhood Chain. Rewards start with the first paid missions.

        i.

        Terms first

Every mission publishes its reward terms next to its brief, before you record.

        ii.

        Review

Your clip is checked against the mission's accept and reject rules. Nothing else.

        iii.

        Settle on chain

Accepted contributions receive the stated reward as a stock token on Robinhood Chain.

        — Funding

        Where rewards come from.

        main source

        Dataset licensing

Robotics teams license reviewed datasets. That revenue is meant to fund most rewards and new missions.

        additional source

        A share of $TRACE fees

Part of the token's trading fees is intended to top up the contributor reward pool.

Neither source is a guaranteed return. A stock token is not a share in the company: its rights, issuer and restrictions are set by the token's own terms, and availability depends on your region.
